The Coconut Lorikeet, another "Rainbow" species, is probably so named since the birds are important pollinators of
coconuts for human food (while gathering nectar). It is also called Massena's Lorikeet.
It is native to eastern New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
It has a dark head flecked with blue, a mid green nape (darker than Deplanche's), red breast with black-edged feathers, green stomach with
slight yellow mottling on lower part and green thighs also with yellow mottling.
