The Pale-headed Lorikeet is a "Rainbow" lorikeet native to New Guinea.
It has a full bright blue head over black under-feathers, a greenish-yellow nape, orangey-red breast with some slight dark feather edges,
black stomach and mottled green and yellow thighs.
It is sometimes included with the related Dark-/Black- throated Lorikeet T. h. nigrogularis.
It is similar to the Green-naped Lorikeet but has a full blue head and nape.
It also has only very light black edging to its red breast feathers.
There are many other current and former subspecies, not all illustrated here.
