The Red-collared Lorikeet is another striking-looking "Rainbow" lorikeet. It has a full bright blue head
over black under-feathers, red beak, a bright orange nape, orange breast, navy-blue belly and greeny-yellow thighs.
It also has orange under-wings in flight.
It is native to Northeast Australia, one of two "Rainbow" species native to the Australian mainland.

It was previously classed as a subspecies of T. haematodus with several other "Rainbow" lorikeets but
was separated to its own species in a general reclassification which saw many former subspecies merit full species status.
