The Warthog is a wild pig from much of sub-Saharan Africa; the one shown is the Common Warthog, the species from the plains of Southern Africa.
Warthogs have four fleshy protrusions (lumps or "warts") on the sides of their face.
Boars (males) have larger "warts" or lumps to cushion blows when fighting.
They have two pairs of sharp tusks, the larger upper and the smaller lower sets, both for defence/fighting and digging.
They also have a long, shaggy, two-tone mane from crown to rump.
Like the domestic Gloucester Old Spot Pig, Warthogs will graze grass, supplementing it with fallen fruit, fungi and roots.
Sows and piglets/juveniles live in small herds; boars are solitary.
Young juveniles. (Warthogs are not to be confused with Hogwarts.)
