The African Butterflyfish is not related to the marine butterfly fishes. Its name is due to its ability to "fly"
out of the water for short distances with its large pectoral fins. It is the only fish in its genus and family and is native to still waters
of mainly west and west central Africa.
It is a surface predator of insects and small fish and can breathe air at the water surface. They grow to 13cm long.
