The Butterfly Barb is native to shaded, well-vegetated rainforest streams in Angola and D. R. Congo.
They live in small groups, fast moving and needing many hiding places.
They reach only some 3cm in length. Males have some black and or yellow on their fins and are slimmer.
Females have clear fins and deeper bellies.
