Like Macaws and Amazons, Conures are native to South and Central America and the Caribbean.
The (former) Latin name of many conures is "Aratinga", - "little macaw".
The new genus "Eupsittula" covers the Olive-/Brown-throated Conures.
The Cactus Conure, also called Caatinga Parakeet, is native to desert and semi-desert regions of north-eastern Brazil.
The nominal subspecies has bright green and bright orange-yellow plumage. The
E.c. caixana subspecies is paler green and yellow.
