Like Macaws and Amazons, Conures are native to South and Central America and the Caribbean.
The (former) Latin name of many conures is "Aratinga", - "little macaw".
The new genus "Eupsittula" covers the Olive-/Brown-throated Conures.
The nominal subspecies of the Olive-throated Conure, Eupsittula nana nana,
shown above left, is also called the Jamaican Conure after its native island. The bill is wholly light-coloured.
The Aztec Conure, Eupsittula nana astec, is the subspecies
of Olive-throated Conure native to eastern Mexico, mainly Yucatan, and Central America. It is shown above and top centre and right.
More Aztec Conures, showing their dark blue wingtips.
