The Mountain Peacock Pheasant, also called Rothschild's Peacock Pheasant, is native to mountain forests of
central Malayasia.
It has a limited range and small population, is elusive and particularly endangered.
The female is similar to the larger male but his plumage is brighter with iridescent blue-green eye-spots.
Like other Peacock-pheasants, males raise/spread their tails like peacocks.
Its main threat is continued habitat loss as land is cleared, mainly for agriculture.
