The (Mexican) Painted Tarantula is also called the Mexican Redleg or Red-legged Tarantula.
It is closely related to the better-known Mexican Red-knee Tarantula. Native to Mexico's northern Pacific coast, it has a leg span of 13 cm.
The second segment of each leg is pink or orange. It has a dark body with pink hairs but a light pinkish head (carapace) with a large black triangle at the front.
