Mexican Blood Leg Tarantula
The Mexican Blood Leg Tarantula is native to dry, scrub habitat in the Southwest of Mexico. It is often mistaken for the Mexican Fireleg (Brachypelma boehmei) and sometimes for the Mexican Red Leg, also Painted, (Brachypelma emilia), both in a different genus. A large part of each leg ("ankle" to "knee") is rusty orange, as is the carapace (back). They ambush prey. The female can live 25-30 years; the male can live for 5-7 years.
