The Mexican Fireleg or Flame-legged Tarantula is native to dry, scrub habitat on the West Coast of Mexico between
the ranges of the Red-kneed species B. hamorii to the north and B. smithi to the south. Like them, the female lives in a
burrow and ambushes prey.
If provoked, they release urticating hairs first rather than bite. She lives for 25-30 years whereas the male lives 5-10 years.
