The Five-keeled Spiny-tailed Iguana is native to (sub)tropical forests of three isolated areas in the west of Nicaragua (and slightly into Costa Rica). The larger males grow to some 35cm. The populations are threatened by habitat destruction (especially for agriculture) and hunting (mainly for meat).
