Yemen Chameleon Chamaeleo calyptratus

The Yemen Chameleon, also called the Veiled Chameleon, lives in arid scrubland of Oman, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
Chameleons are well-known for being able to change colours to blend in with their environment. Colour also changes according to mood, temperature and social interaction.

Chameleons are lizards. Over a hundred species come in several colours; not all can change colour. The Yemen is the most popular Chameleon in captivity.

Chameleons have independently swivelling eyes, long tongues and grasping feet for climbing.

Some, including the Yemen, have prehensile tails. Males have taller "casques" on their head than females, brighter colours and have spurs on their hind legs.

They can grow to some 2 feet (60cm) in length. Diet is insects.
