The Wasp Beetle has wasp-like yellow stripes on black mimicking a wasp to deter predators. It is harmless to humans.
It is native to much of Europe through to Central Asia and eastern Russia.
It is some 10-20mm long and is one of the Longhorn beetles. It flies between flowers eating pollen and nectar in warm summer months.
The underside is also striped and segmented like wasps. Its larvae live in dry dead wood.
