The Vittata Twig Catfish, also called the Vittata Whiptail, is native to streams of the Orinoco basin of Colombia
and Venezuela. It grows to 23cm long. It stays still for long periods, being well-camouflaged on wood, its main diet together with algae.
Another similar Twig or Whiptail Catfish is the Acus Twig/Whiptail, native to drainages of Lake Valencia and the Torito river
also of Venezuela and Colombia. It grows to 16-20cm long (depending on source). It is classed as vulnerable.
