The Iridescent Shark Catfish, also called the Sutchi Catfish, is native to main rivers of the Chao Phraya and Mekong
basins in Indochina. Juveniles of the Iridescent are shiny with a lateral stripe but adults are grey or grey-brown. They can grow to 1.3 metres long.
Like the other giant catfishes of the region, it is endangered, through over-fishing and through construction of dams since the fish migrate
upstream in the wet season to spawn.
An albino variant of the Iridescent is often bred in captivity.
