Mountain Ringlet-type Butterfly Erebia mopsos

Mountain Ringlet Butterfly
Mountain Ringlet Butterfly
This butterfly looks similar to the Mountain Ringlet, E. epiphron, also called the Small Mountain Ringlet, native to mountain areas mainly in Europe and in isolated populations. (In the UK there are populations in Scotland and England's Lake District only, each being a separate subspecies.) The photos shown, from Alexandra Makhnina, are not a subspecies but the Central Asian species E. mopsos native to the Tian Shan mountains of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
