The Masked Lovebird has a full black or dark chocolate-brown face with white eye-rings and a red bill.
In the wild in its native East Africa it is generally green-bodied with a yellow collar and chest.
The rump is green. Some shown here have reddish mottling around the head/neck, indicating
that they are not purebred but have some non-masked ancestors.
In captivity, several colours have been bred, particularly the blue, lacking yellow colour (above
left and centre). It is said that a blue mutation has occurred in the wild.
