The Hispaniolan Amazon is native to forests of Haiti and the Dominican Republic (the island of Hispaniola). Mainly green, it has a white brow and
blue crown, some blue on the cheek, dark blue ears and a light horn beak. There is blue on the wings and red on the belly.
Although the population is declining through loss of habitat and capture for the pet trade, captive-bred Hispaniolans
have been released on Puerto Rico as a trial before release of captive-bred parrots of the more highly endangered Puerto Rican Amazon.
