These Moorhens are the usual common species but are lacking red pigment, giving them all-yellow beaks and face plates
(except for pinkish tinge round nostril) instead of part red beak and red face shield; they also lack the red garter on the legs.
They were building a nest, so it will be interesting to see if it is a genetic trait and the chicks have the same lack of red.
A decade later and there is at least one yellow-billed moorhen still around.
Out on the lake is another with her regular, red-and-yellow-billed chick.
