Hartlaub's Turaco Tauraco hartlaubi

A little similar to the White-cheeked Turaco, Hartlaub's Turaco is also native to East Africa - from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania (the White-cheeked is mainly from Ethiopia/Eritrea). Its bill is less red and the white patch under its eye is a thin, horizontal line rather than broad vertical.

Male and female have similar plumage which they retain throughout the seasons.

They usually run and climb in trees but don't fly much unless danger threatens. The beautiful red under-wings warn other birds of danger.
