Fruit Doves are a diverse and colourful genus of fruit-eating, forest-dwelling doves/pigeons from southeast Asia and Australasia.
The Superb Fruit Dove, also called the Purple-crowned Fruit Dove (not Purple-capped), comes from southern Philippines/Indonesia, New Guinea and eastern Australia.
The male (above left) is more colourful than the female (above right), with a crimson-purple crown, orange half neck scarf,
grey chest with thick black bar, white belly and green wings/back.
Although not the "Beautiful Fruit Dove" (a different species), he is beautiful.
She is mainly green with silver chin and chest and white belly.
Those shown above right are a juvenile pair yet to develop full adult colours.
