New Zealand Robin Petroica australis

New Zealand Robin
New Zealand Robin
The friendly little New Zealand Robin has a grey body and head with a white breast. Three similar-looking birds share this name: the geographically separated North Island (classified as separate species), the South Island (nominate) and the Stewart Island Robins. Shown here are the Stewart Island subspecies. Because of their rarity, the leg ring colours identify each individual.
