Tomtit Petroica macrocephala

The Tomtit is endemic to New Zealand. Shown is the nominate of the five subspecies from different islands: the South Island subspecies of Tomtit.

The female Tomtit has a charcoal grey head, back and wings (darker than those of the related New Zealand Robin) with very pale yellow front.

The male Tomtit has a black head, back and wings with white wing bar and a yellowy white front.
