The Spangled Cotinga is native to the Amazon Basin. The male is a showy, bright turquoise with deep pink throat and black wingtips and tail.
They live high in the forest canopy.
Males display, alone or in a small group, and females visit the display ground to select a mate.
Like most Cotingas, the female, who has the task of incubating and raising young, is plain and camouflaged.
