Variable Toad Bufotes variabilis

The Variable Toad is found from south-eastern Europe through Asia Minor and the Middle East to Central Asia and southern Russia. There are said to be isolated populations in southern Scandinavia and northern Germany.

As its name indicates, the colours/pattern are variable. Males are often plainer but many females look similar to the individual above in colour and pattern. She is well-camouflaged in her marshy setting.
