Algerian Ribbed Newt Pleurodeles nebulosus
The Algerian Ribbed Newt is native to freshwater streams and ponds in northeastern Algeria and western Tunisia.
The newts can grow to over 20cm or 8 inches long. Like several other newts, the tail develops fins
in the breeding season when the newts are more aquatic.
They are threatened by continued water pollution and habitat loss.
