The Pool Frog is one of three similar, variable "green" frogs, two of which are not native to Britain.
While the Pool Frog is native, it was declared extinct in 1995 as its ponds were drained or polluted. It is native to some of continental
Europe and a similar genetic variant was re-established from Scandinavia to a previous site in East Anglia in 2005.
It has two parallel ridges from eye to rump and a central stripe which breaks up the outline for camouflage. Colour
varies from greens and browns.
