The female will lay a single, fertile egg in a small water source such as a bromeliad and both parents will remain together to watch over the egg. Once the tadpole hatches, the female will lay an infertile egg in the water as food for the tadpole. The frogs are threatened by habitat loss and collection for the pet trade.
