Eastern Snake-necked Terrapin/Turtle Chelodina longicollis

The Eastern Snake-necked Terrapin, also called Eastern Long-necked Turtle, is one of several "snake-necked" terrapin species all native to Australia-Pacific. The neck, when extended, can reach as long as the body. When withdrawn, it is withdrawn sideways into the shell. All are carnivorous.

The Eastern Snake-necked is native to slow moving rivers and ponds of much of Eastern Australia. It has powerful webbed, clawed feet for swimming, digging and tearing. It can also excrete a foul-smelling musk as defence.
