The Malayan Box Turtle is native to much of Southeast Asia. It's several subspecies go by many similar names including the Southeast Asian and Amboina Box Turtle.

This way of protecting themselves from predators has not stopped all Asian box turtles, including the Malayan, from being decimated by over-collecting by humans for the food trade. The Malayan Box Turtle is vulnerable and several others are on the brink of extinction.
