Cunninghm's Skink, like its relative the Gidgee Skink, is more like a spiny lizard in appearance and habits than a glossy skink.
Each scale has a spiny keel. It has a longer tail than the Gidgee.
Native to rocky habitat in south-eastern Australia, it hides in rock crevices like spiny-tailed lizards, with its tail of raised spines outwards.
Like other Spiny-tailed Skinks (among the Egernier species), it climbs well. It lives in communities but
is able to recognise relatives and to avoid significant inbreeding.
