There are several "casque-headed iguanas", also called "cone-headed lizards" in two genera, all native to Central
America. Shown is the Serrated Casque-headed Iguana, also called Serrated Cone-headed Lizard, of tropical forests of Mexico, mainly in the Yucatan.
It has long fingers like ET and an extremely long, thin tail in addition to the pretty, frilled head adornment.
Both male and female have head casques.
Their tails do not break off like other lizards, but they can quickly change colour from green to brown to camouflage
themselves from predators.
