Leopard Gecko Eublepharis macularius

The Leopard Gecko, named after the spots on its skin, is native to rocky terrain and deserts of northwest India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In addition to its distinctive spotted coat, it is unusual for a gecko in having moveable eyelids. An adult grows to 20-27 cm long. It can also store fat in its tail.

Leopard Geckos are often kept in captivity and many "morphs" (variations in colour, pattern and size) have been bred.
