The Common Agama, also called the Red-headed Rock Agama, is native to West and west-central
Africa and also to Madagascar. The male can reach a length of 35cm.
A dull-looking lizard out of season, the breeding male has a bright red head, blue body and
turquoise or blue tail in the breeding season and is also called the Rainbow Agama. The breeding female has bright
orange patches along her flanks.
