The Nubian Ibex, with concave hooves like suction cups, lives on rocky mountain cliffs of
northeast Africa and the Near East and is able to scale steep cliffs with narrow ledges.
Only males have the long, horizontally-ridged horns (they grow continuously throughout life denoting age and rank).
Females have shorter, unridged horns. The species is threatened by hunting and, in the few protected areas, by poaching.
