Duikers are small, forest-dwelling antelopes, the name coming from the Africaans for diving (into bushes/forest).
The Blue Duiker is native to Central Africa in a large band from the west to east coasts. It is also native to a coastal area of southeastern Africa.
It has several subspecies over its range. The coat is grey. The back is rounded.
An adult stands some 30-40 cm (up to 16 inches) at the shoulder but can jump 3 times its height.
Both male and female have small horns, the female's usually smaller than the male's.
They are diurnal but shy and elusive.
Major threats are habitat loss and hunting for bush meat.
