Duikers are small, forest-dwelling antelopes, the name coming from the Africaans for diving (into bushes/forest). The Blue Duiker is native to Central Africa in a large band from the west to east coasts. It is also native to a coastal area of southeastern Africa.

It has several subspecies over its range. The coat is grey. The back is rounded. An adult stands some 30-40 cm (up to 16 inches) at the shoulder but can jump 3 times its height.

Both male and female have small horns, the female's usually smaller than the male's. They are diurnal but shy and elusive.
