Fur Seals, with their small ears and their flippers, are not true seals but are closely related to Sea Lions.
The South American Fur Seal lives in waters off the coast of Peru, Chile, Argentina, the Falkland Islands and Uruguay.
Sun-bathing is a favourite activity. Fur Seals have dense fur which made them a target for fur trappers.
Like sealions (but not true seals), Fur Seals can bring all four flippers under their body and walk on land.
But they are happiest in the water. Despite the South American Fur Seal's species name "australis",
the Australian Fur Seal is a subspecies of the South African species.
