Golden-headed Lion Tamarin Leontopithecus chrysomelas

The Golden-headed Lion Tamarin is an endangered Tamarin from isolated patches of forest in Bahia state, Brazil. Most of their habitat has been cleared by logging or for ranching.

They live in small family groups with a dominant, breeding pair and all the group taking care of the offspring. Tamarin parents usually have twins which are carried on their backs.

Male and female have similar colouring.
