Golden Lion Tamarin Leontopithecus rosalia
The beautiful Golden Lion Tamarin is native to two remaining, isolated coastal forests of Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil.
Male and female have similar appearance but the coat colour of individuals can vary from pale yellow to red.
They live in small family groups. Mothers nurse babies but fathers carry them.
It is critically endangered as most of its habitat has been destroyed for housing and agriculture.
