The Brown Spider Monkey, also called the Variegated Spider Monkey, is native to forests of Colombia and Venezuela.
Some, above right, have blue eyes -- spider monkeys are the only primates other than humans and the Blue-eyed Black Lemur
to regularly have blue eyes. It is critically endangered, mainly through deforestation causing loss of some 98% of its habitat.
It is called a Spider Monkey as this long-limbed monkey grips with hands, feet and prehensile tail
as it swings through the trees.
Many have a white triangle on their brow.
A fruit eater, it has an important role in dispersing fruit seeds.
