The Eastern Black and White Colobus Monkey is native to Equatorial Africa. They are also known as the Mantled Guereza.
Colobus means mutilated, named because Colobus monkeys have no thumbs. The tail provides balance.
The monkeys have suffered from deforestation as well as being hunted by leopards, eagles, chimpanzees and man.
Baby Black and White Colobus Monkeys are completely white for the first few months before they develop the black cap
and black body fur with white shawl of the adults.
