Bonobo
The Bonobo is native to the Congo, south of the Congo River and used to be called the Pygmy Chimpanzee. It is similar in appearance to the (Common) Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) but generally darker, less stocky and with a central parting on its head and pinkish-grey lips. The two species have different social habits.

The Bonobo has a relatively non-violent, relatively egalitarian, matriarchal society and a mainly vegetarian diet. This contrasts with the more aggressive, male-dominated society of the (Common) Chimpanzee.
