The Red or Lesser Panda is native to the southern edge of the Himalayas, from Nepal to China.

Like the Giant Panda, the Red Panda lives alone or, rarely, in pairs. It is not closely related to the Giant Panda but is distantly related to mustelids (badgers, martens) and to raccoons.
