The Yellow Mongoose is native to southern Africa. Its fur can be reddish ginger or have a yellowish tinge.
Males and females are of similar appearance.

(not Mongeese) can eat snakes and scorpions without being troubled by the venom.
Like other Mongooses, including Meerkats, Yellow Mongooses live in a social hierarchy around the dominant breeding pair.
Lesser relatives share communal tasks such as lookout, baby-sitting, food gathering, burrow excavation, etc.
They live in colonies of a couple of dozen in underground burrows with several entrances.
