The Red Kangaroo is native to most of Australia's vast interior; it is absent from coastal regions
of the east, southeast and southwest and from the northern rainforests.
The Red is the largest kangaroo and largest marsupial, with the muscular males reaching some 7 feet
in height. They live in small groups, referred to as mobs.

Males are called bucks or jacks, females are does or jills and the young are joeys.
The male has a red-brown coat and the female can be red-brown or grey.
Grey and red female Red Kangaroos. The stance, with strong leg muscles, heavy tail and
proportionally tiny arms is reminiscent of a T-rex (- perhaps T-rex also hopped).
They are vegetarian, eating mainly grass. They get much of their water from food.
Male Red Kangaroos, particularly the dominant one in the mob, secrete a strong-smelling, red powder from a gland onto their neck and chest.
When the animal gets wet or sweats, this red dye can look like blood, as it does here.
They can reach speeds of over 30 mph but, like most large kangaroos, they rest for most of the day.
