The Sun Bear is native to forests of the southern part of Southeast Asia.
Like other Asian black bears, it has a black coat with a cream or orange crescent on its chest (the sun);
it has a light muzzle. The fur is short since it lives in a hot climate.
The Sun Bear is the smallest of the eight species of true bears (Polar Bear, Brown Bear, American Black Bear,
Asian Black Bear, Sloth Bear, Giant Panda and Andean/Spectacled Bear).
Males and females have a similar appearance but males are usually larger.
Mother and cub.
The Sun Bear is vulnerable as massive deforestation has significantly reduced its habitat.
