Aphidlions Chrysoperla and related species

The fearsome-looking Aphidlion (also Aphid Lion) is the larval stage of the Lacewing. It is a significant predator of aphids and mealybugs and a gardener's friend (and harmless to humans).

To protect itself from predators, it disguises itself in leaf litter and debris.
