Vietnamese Giant Stick Insect Phryganistria heusii yentuensis

The Vietnamese Giant Stick Insect is native to tropical forests of Vietnam and is one of the longest insects known. The larger female has a body length of 26-30 cm long, with the record being 32cm. With their front legs stretched forwards, they can be half a metre long. Males are much narrower and about half as long. They were discovered by science only in 2014. They cannot fly. They live high in the canopy, well-camouflaged and rarely seen. They eat leaves.
